After Omegle
An Omegle alternative for adults
By the VideoMatch team Updated
Omegle is gone. People still type "omegle 18+" or "omegle nsfw" into search bars every day, mostly out of habit. This page explains what happened to it, what adults actually used it for, and where VideoMatch fits in, including the parts where we deliberately work differently.

Try the skip
One stranger at a time, one tap to move on. That part of the old random-chat idea was always worth keeping. Flip through a few faces here, then go say hi for real.
What Omegle was, and when it closed

- 2009Launch. A single page, a start button, a stranger. You typed, or later turned on your webcam, and a random person somewhere in the world appeared.
- 2010sGrowth, and a split. Video chat got a monitored main section and a separate unmoderated one, entered through a warning screen that asked people to confirm they were adults.
- Nov 8, 2023Shutdown. The founder replaced the homepage with a closing letter saying the site could no longer be run, and Omegle stopped working that day (background on Wikipedia).
No accounts. No profiles. That anonymity was the whole appeal, and it was also the problem, because the age rule in its terms relied on people telling the truth and nothing on the site checked.
What adults used it for
Honestly? Plenty of different things. Some adults simply wanted to talk to strangers without kids in the queue. Others drifted into the unmoderated section looking for flirtier, more adult conversation, and the warning screen existed precisely because of what could turn up there.
So when someone searches "adult omegle" in 2026, they usually want one of two things: the random stranger experience with grown-ups only, or the unmoderated section back. We offer the first. Not the second.
The part VideoMatch keeps
Random matching
You press start and get a stranger. No browsing, no picking from a list.
1-on-1 video
Two cameras, one conversation. Just you and whoever the match hands you.
Instant exit
Skip whenever you like. The next person is one tap away.
There's also no sign-up form to get through first. When you start, a guest identity is created in the background and you're matching within moments. It works in phone and desktop browsers, and the browser asks for your camera and microphone on the match screen.
Where it's different, on purpose
- AgeAdults only, confirmed before your first match. There's no teen section and no "with parental permission" footnote.
- NudityNot allowed. Not in some corner, not after midnight, not for paying users. There is no unmoderated section, and sexual acts on camera get accounts removed.
- FlirtingAllowed. Adult topics and teasing banter between two consenting grown-ups are fine.
- ToolsReport and block buttons on every call, not just a disconnect button and hope.
- AnonymityYou still start without giving your name. Your match sees you on camera, not your profile details.
The full wording is in our community guidelines. If a stricter room sounds like a downgrade, fair enough. We think it's the reason a random call with a stranger can be fun again, instead of something you brace for.

Questions people ask
Is Omegle still running?
No. Omegle shut down on November 8, 2023. Sites using the name today are not the original service.
Is VideoMatch connected to Omegle?
No. VideoMatch is a separate, unaffiliated random video chat site for adults. It keeps the random 1-on-1 stranger format but has its own rules and its own team.
Is there an Omegle NSFW section on VideoMatch?
No. There is no unmoderated area. Every call follows the same community guidelines: 18+ only, no nudity and no sexual acts. Flirting and adult conversation are fine.
Omegle never asked for an account. Does VideoMatch?
There is no sign-up form to fill in. A guest identity is created automatically the moment you start, and you can make a full account later if you want one.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It runs in mobile and desktop browsers without an app install. Your browser asks for camera and microphone access on the match screen.
Omegle is a trademark of its owner; VideoMatch is not affiliated with it.
