Copyright and Takedown Requests

If your work appears on VideoMatch without your permission, send us a notice and we will take it down. Here is exactly what to include.

Effective

When to use this page

Use this process if something on videomatch.fun — a profile photo, a display name, text or an image — uses work you own the copyright to, and you did not give permission. It is also the route for trademark owners whose brand is being used to impersonate them.

For a person behaving badly on a call, the report button inside the call is faster. For anything involving a minor, go to child safety instead.

What your notice needs to include

We can act on a notice only if it gives us enough to find the material and confirms you have the right to complain. Please include:

  • your full name, postal address, phone number and email address;
  • a description of the copyrighted work you believe is being infringed (a link to the original is ideal);
  • where the material appears on VideoMatch — the page URL, the profile or display name, and anything else that pinpoints it;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
  • a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner;
  • your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine).

Where to send it

Email the notice to [email protected] with "Copyright notice" in the subject line. Plain text in the body is easiest for us to process; attach documents only if they add something the text cannot.

What we do next

If the notice is complete, we remove or disable access to the material and let the user who posted it know that it was taken down and why. If something is missing, we write back and tell you what we need. We may pass a copy of the notice, including your name, to the affected user so they can respond.

If your material was taken down by mistake

You can send a counter-notice to the same address. It should contain:

  • your name, address, phone number and email address;
  • what was removed and where it appeared before removal;
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith the material was removed by mistake or misidentification;
  • your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts for your address, and agreement to accept service from the person who filed the original notice;
  • your physical or electronic signature.

We forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant. Unless they tell us they have started legal action, the material may be restored.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that keep posting material they have no right to use will be closed, in line with our Terms of Service.

Please do not misuse this process

Knowingly false notices or counter-notices can make the sender liable for damages. If you are unsure whether something infringes your rights, get legal advice before filing.
